Anokhi Museum in Amber town of Jaipur is established by a famous textile company specializing in printed cotton fabrics which has opened attractive ready-to-wear boutiques in nearly 20 Indian cities. The full name of this museum is Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing (AMHP). Housed in a restored haveli (mansion) of 16th century, the museum details the traditional block printing techniques. The wooden blocks carved with different patterns of designs are utilized to hand-print various fabrics. You will see beautiful fabrics, costumes, and an opportunity to meet craftsman with trained fingers, who will patiently show you the way he carves a block or wooden pad: a work of extraordinary precision. Then, another craftsman will show you the process of stamping on a piece of cotton, another delicate task. Finally, you can, if you wish, do some shopping at the shop.
