`

The famous monument of Jaipur, the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Breeze or Palace of Winds, was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, in I799 AD.

This five-storeyed mansion, with curvilinear roofs and beautifully finished domes is remarkable for its semi-octagonal overhanging windows with perforated screens, through which queens, princesses and their maids peeped at festive processions or martial expeditions. Because of the access the windows give to frolic some breeze, the palace bears this inviting name.

Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, is an impressive facade of five floors punctuated by numerous windows and balconies with screen walls. It was built in 18th century. Watching from the top floor offers stunning views of the City Palace complex and the Pink City.
