Placed in the center of Lohagarh Fort, the Bharatpur Museum houses a rich collection of archaeological wealth of the area around Bharatpur. The enormous magnificent building Kachahari Kalan, once the administrative block of the rulers of Bharatpur, was converted into a museum in 1944 AD. Kamra Khas (the personal room) was added to the museum. It exhibits sculptures found during excavations of old villages of the Kushan period (1st century AD) to the 19th century AD. The weapons used in battles in the medieval period by the Jat rulers & warriors, paintings, manuscripts, zoological specimens, local art and craft and carving on sandalwood and ivory etc offer a glimpse into the glory that once was Bharatpur. Some rare gems can also be seen in the Bharatpur Museum.
