Near the entrance gate, Tripolia, eight carved arches under which the Maharanas were weighed in gold and silver which were later distributed among the poor to ward off evil. Inside are seen Roy Aangarn, constructed by Maharana Udai. Its wails show the pictures of Rana Pratap's battles and death. Then there are Badi Mahal or Garden Palace containing a garden at a height of 90 feet and two large cisterns made of a single marble slab each; Dilkhush Mahal with excellent frescos; Krishna Mahal in which princess Krishna Kumari, daughter of Maharana Bheema Singh, committed suicide to save the kingdom from two militant rival suitors claiming her hand; Chitra Shala, Priyatama Vilas and Manikya Mahal. A part of the palace houses the museum, rich with antiquities - coins, dresses, and portraits.
Considered as one of the main Regal Rajasthan complexes, the City Palace of Udaipur is placed royally on an outcrop on the eastern side of the city in pleasant Lake Pichola. The compound has 11 palaces with terraces and towers offering a spectacular view of the lake and its backdrop. The Durbar Hall, which has been utilized as a venue for official events like the official banquets and discussions, has very luxurious interiors decorated by some of the greatest chandeliers in the world. The City Palace of Udaipur also has a museum displaying a number of attractive artifacts.
