Javari Temple in eastern group of Khajuraho temples is a Hindu or Brahmanic temple, built of stone, constructed on a plinth and rests on several pillars with carved capitals. Though it’s a small temple from ancient Indian perspective but it contains essential architectural components of a Hindu temple like sanctum, mandapa, portico and vestibule. The name Javari is derived from the landowner’s name Javar. Javari Temple is constructed between 950 AD & 970 AD. Some scholars claim that the temple belongs to Jain faith and is dedicated to the 23rd Jain Tirthankar- Lord Parshwanath. Fine sculptures on its walls are photography-worthy.
