Day 5
Jaipur city tour
The whole day is planned for leisurely yet extensive sightseeing of Jaipur as the capital city of Rajasthan is blessed
with world-renowned monuments, unique cultural colors & great crafts’ bazaar. Having taken scrumptious breakfast,
accompanied by professional local guide, proceed on for visiting Amber Fort, perched at the top of a hill. Reach to
the main gate of Amber Fort riding on an elephant’s back. It offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. Built
by Rajput Raja Man Singh I in 1592, Amber Fort is a must-see for its mosaics and marble panels. Miniature paintings
on the walls depict hunting and war scenes and offer a glimpse into the life of the king and his nobles. Visit the
Sheesh Mahal where you will find a particularly beautiful room whose walls and ceiling are made with mirrors. The
guide will lit a candle at Sheesh Mahal and the room gets illuminated as if there were a million diamonds. It's a
show you'll never forget.
After visiting Amber Fort, return to Jaipur city. The Jaipur city centre is studded with several iconic monuments.
Prominent among them are City Palace. Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal. Visit the City Palace, the residence of the royal
family of Jaipur. One of part of City Palace is now a museum while the rest is occupied by the royal family. The palace
is built in the style of a fortified campus. Continue to the Jantar Mantar , built by King Jai Singh II who had a deep
interest in astronomy. It is the largest stone-built and a well-known observatory in the world. Located near the gate
of the city palace, the observatory has 17 large instruments like the sundial, and many of them are still in working
order. Now visit Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, and take a few pictures of this beautifully crafted structure that
overlooks a bustling market. The palace has a number of small windows and screens. The vaulted roofs with complicated
sculptures were built so that women from royal families could look underneath, without being observed.
After sightseeing of the monuments, explore local market that is known for its mind-boggling variety of crafts and
ethnic products. Jewellery, carpets, rugs, printed cloths etc can be purchased from here. Shopping in Jaipur is
definitely a lifetime experience. After shopping spree, you will be taken to Birla Temple to attend evening aarti
ceremony. The presiding deities of the temple are Laxmi-Narayan. Later, in the evening, return to hotel for overnight
stay.
