The Gohar Mahal or Gohar Palace was built by Queen Kadasia Begum of the Bhopal kingdom in 1827. It is a unique & perfect example of the fusion between Islamic and Hindu architecture. Unfortunately today it is partly dilapidated but the vaulted corridors and arches have retained their grandeur. It is situated on the bank of large lake at Sand Ghat. Constructed about 200 years before, it was the first king’s palaces of Bhopal. At present there is a market of the handicrafts in this palace. The beauty of the large lake appears exceptionally attractive from this palace.
