Day 3
New Delhi sightseeing
Again the sightseeing tour of Delhi, primarily New Delhi, will begin in the morning, along with Delhi tour guide. The day has been kept for the sightseeing of cherished monuments like Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, Humayun’s Tomb, Lotus Temple & Old Fort (Purana Qila). After relaxed breakfast, along with tour guide proceed to visit Agrasen Ki Baori (an ancient water harvesting system) & Old Fort. First monument to be visited will be Agrasen ki Baori. After visiting Agrasen Ki Baori, drive towards Old Fort or Purana Qila of Delhi to explore beauty of the landscape and observe historical monuments. Old Fort is the site of First Delhi called Indraprastha during Mahabharat time. Later, in ancient times, Chauhan Rajput built fortress here. Later on, Humayun and Sher Shah damaged it alot but rebuilt according to their requirements. Old Fort is an example of military fortification during medieval India.
After visiting Old Fort, stop at the next historical monument- Humayun’s Tomb, built by his widow Haji Begum. Nearby the Humayun’s Tomb is Hazrat Nizamuddin’s Dargah, a Muslim shrine. Historically & religiously, the Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya is considered as a sacred Muslim Pilgrimage centre. Belonging to Chshti Order of Sufi preachers, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was a famous Muslim ‘faqir’. His dargah here is the place where several other notable personalities of that era were buried like Jahanara (daughter of Shah Jahan), Persian & Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib, and Inayat Khan.
After Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah,Lotus Temple of Bahai faith will be the next stop-over. Set amidst beautiful landscape, Lotus Temple is essentially a meditation centre. After exploring the famous monuments of Delhi, return to hotel for overnight stay.
