There are more than 400 temples in the holy Pushkar city, but out of these 400 temples, Rangji Temple is an important and popular religious place. It is one of the prominent tourist attractions in Pushkar, Rajasthan. This temple is dedicated to 'Rangji', an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Sri Rangnath Venugopal Temple is an interesting amalgam of Dravidian style of temple architecture in South India and Nagar style of temple architecture in Rajasthan. The beautifully and intricately carved temple is built of yellow and peach stone. It is the first temple of the South Indian Ramanuja Vaishnava sect in Rajasthan, made in 1844 AD. Seth Puranmal Ganeriwal, a rich merchant of Hyderabad, funded the temple construction in 1823 AD. There are lovely fading frescoes on a lofty entrance door, gopurams, and Rajasthani ‘chhatris’ atop walls. Apart from a tall ‘gopuram’, the temple also has two gatekeeper structures at the main entrance. In the core shrine, there are three chambers of Krishna, Rangnathji and Ramanujacharya. The idol of Lord Krishna is flanked on both sides by Rukmini & Satyabhama. If a visitor makes it at 8 AM or 8 PM, he / she can partake of the Prasad, which is khichdi and tamarind rice, respectively. Foreigners are allowed to enter the temple. The temple gets enlivened for 15 days during annual Jhula Mahotsav in Shravan month. Old Rangji Temple in Pushkar attracts a large number of devotees, pilgrims and tourists.
