Tourist Attractions in Jaisalmer

The main tourist attraction of Jaisalmer is the fort with the royal palace "Maharaja Mahal", the havelis, the eight Jain temples of worship and the four temples of Hindu religion. Made of sandstones and locally known as the Sonar Quila, the Jaisalmer Fort is a dominant structure rising from the enormous dunes of the Thar Desert. The city of Jaisalmer is also known for its old particular constructions, better known as havelis. Among them, Salim Singh ki Haveli and Nathmal Ji ki Haveli are the most popular ones. There are other monuments like Bada Bagh (Royal Cenotaphs), Gadisar Lake, Ludarwa, which are also important because of their distinct and individual architecture.
