Death in Varanasi ensures salvation and freedom from the cycle of birth and re-birth. Buddhist pilgrimage site Sarnath also lies in Varanasi. Prayagraj, termed ‘teertharaj’ in Hindu scriptures, is situated on the banks of the Ganga & the Yamuna and home to Triveni Sangam (confluence of Ganga, Yamuna & invisible Saraswati). Prayagraj, known as the greatest pilgrimage since the Rig Vedic era, is famous for its Kumbh Mela that is organized once every twelve years. Chitrakoot is the third ‘dham’ (Hindu pilgrimage site) of this pilgrimage tour. It has immense historical and religious significance. Chitrakoot is related to Shri Ram and Ramayana. It is home to numerous places enveloping memories of Ram. Ram, along with Sita and Laxman, spent significant duration of his exile in Chitrakoot. Here only he carried out last rites of his father Dasharath and persuaded Bharat to return to Ayodhya to take care of the subjects of the kingdom. Visiting Chitrakoot is like exploring footprints of Shri Ram. Ayodhya, located on the banks of Saryu, is world over known as the Ram Janmabhoomi. One of the ‘Saptpuri’ (Seven Sacred Cities of the Hindus), Ayodhya is a historical, cultural and religious city in Uttar Pradesh. Naimisharanya is a famous forest where sages used to do meditation and penance.

Day 1

Varanasi arrival – Ganga Aarti

On arrival at Varanasi railway station / airport, you will be received and transferred to the hotel to check in, relax for some time and be ready to attend evening Ganga Aarti (Ganges Worship Ceremony). Late afternoon / early evening, you will be taken to Dashashwamedha Ghat of Varanasi where magnanimous Ganga Aarti ceremony, a daily routine, takes place. Be a witness to ancient India and then move for watching splendid and magnanimous Ganga Aarti at the ghat of river Ganges. After enjoying the surge of religiosity at ghats during Ganga Aarti, return to Varanasi hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2

Varanasi sightseeing – Sarnath – Prayagraj

Exploration of numerous facets of Varanasi begins early in the morning with a boat ride in the Ganga along the ghats. The ghats get alive in dawn hours. Watch the devotees taking holy dip in the sacred river, worshipping the Goddess Ganga and performing religious rituals.

After morning boat cruise on the Ganga, have bath in Ganga. Thereafter, visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Godoulia. Nearby the Kashi Vishwanath Temple are located Annapurna Devi Temple, Sakshi Vinayak Temple, Vishalakshi Devi Temple and Shani Dev Temple. You can visit these holy shrines too. In the process of visiting Kashi Vishwanath Temple, you will be having heritage walk of the narrow and buzzing alleys of Varanasi. This heritage walk will enable you to watch every single aspect of the culture of Varanasi.

Exploring & enjoying the morning of Varanasi, return to your Varanasi hotel. Get refreshed, relax and have delicious breakfast. Thereafter, proceed to visit famous temples of Varanasi which include Sankat Mochan Temple , Durga Temple , Tulsi Manas Temple and New Vishwanath Temple in BHU.

In the afternoon, after ghats and temples tour, proceed to visit Sarnath. Sarnath is the testimony to ancient Indian progress in terms of knowledge, culture and civilization infrastructure. It is a Buddhist pilgrimage site where Siddhartha (Gautam Buddha) delivered his first sermon and initiated ‘dharmachakrapravartana’.

Soon after visiting Sarnath, you will be driven to Prayagraj immediately which is merely 100 km away and takes 2 / 3 hours (depending upon traffic condition) to reach. On arrival at Prayagraj you will directly be transferred to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3

Prayagraj sightseeing – Chitrakoot

Prayagraj is mentioned in Hindu scriptures as Teertharaj and holds this eminence in Hindu Dharma due to several reasons – Triveni Sangam, Kumbh Mela, Dwadash Madhav, Dashashwamedh Yajna by Lord Brahma, Akshayavat and Bharadwaj Ashram.

Early in the morning, proceed to visit Triveni Sangam, Patalpuri Temple, Akshayavat, Bade Hanuman Ji Temple & Nag Vasuki Temple. You will be taken to the river bank. Take a boat on direct payment and arrive at Sangam. Have holy dip therein and perform whatever rituals you wish to carry out thereupon. Having taken bath at Sangam, return to the bank of the river. Thereafter, you will be taken to visit Akshayavat & Patalpuri Temple (within Allahabad Fort premises). Again proceed for visiting Bade Hanuman Ji Temple, located adjacent to the rampart of the fort. From here, you will be taken to Nag Vaasuki Temple. Having sumptuous ‘darshan’ return to hotel to relax and have breakfast. After breakfast, check out from the hotel and move to visit the site of Bharadwaj Ashram & Anand Bhawan (remains closed on Monday/ opens 10 AM-5 PM).

Late afternoon, depart from Prayagraj to Chitrakoot, another pilgrimage site of the Hindus or Sanatani people. On arrival at Chitrakoot, if reached timely, you will be taken to Ram Ghat to attend evening ‘aarti’ of holy river Mandakini, otherwise, will be transferred directly into the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 4

Chitrakoot sightseeing - Prayagraj

Soon after early breakfast, proceed on to explore the holy places in Chitrakoot, considered a ‘dham’ due to association with Shri Ram. Among the sacred places to visit in Chitrakoot Dham are Kamadgiri Temple, Gupt Godavari, Maa Anusuya Ashram , Bharat Milap Temple, Sphatikshila, Sita Rasoi & Ram Ghat. After exploring Chitrakoot, drive back to Prayagraj. On arrival at Prayagraj, check in at the hotel to spend evening in leisure and have overnight stay.

Day 5

Prayagraj – Ayodhya – Ayodhya sightseeing

After early morning breakfast, depart for Ayodhya. It’s approximately four hours long journey. On arrival at Ayodhya, check in at the hotel. Having relaxed a bit, proceed on to visit sacred places in Ayodhya, i.e., Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Kanak Bhawan, Hanuman Garhi, Sita Rasoi etc.

In the evening, participate in the ‘aarti’ ceremony of the River Saryu wherein Shri Ram took Jal Samaadhi. Overnight stay is scheduled in Ayodhya hotel.

Day 6

Ayodhya – Naimisharanya - Lucknow

After breakfast, depart for Naimisharanya. Naimisharanya or the Naimisha forest is an ancient forest mentioned in the Ramayan, the Mahabharat and the Puranas. It lies on the banks of the Gomti River of Uttar Pradesh, about 90 km from Lucknow. Among the prominent attractions of religious and historical importance are Chakratirtha, Dashashwamedha Ghat, Hanuman Garhi, Lalita Devi Temple, Dadhichi Kund and Pandav Fort. On arrival at Naimisharanya, visit the famous religious places. Late afternoon / early evening, depart for Lucknow. On arrival at Lucknow, check in the hotel for overnight stay.
