Built around 1560 by Baz Bahadur's lovely mistress Rani Rupmati, Rani Rupmati mosque has exquisitely carved facades and balconies, symbolizing Gujarat's tradition of integration. Though got severely damaged during 1819 AD earthquake, the remnants show excellent blend of flat architecture of the Hindu and arched one of Islamic. Its construction was funded by Mehmud Beghara. The mosque of Rani Rupmati dates from the 15th century. Constructed by the wife of Mahmud Beghara, it is one of the most elegant mosques with the richness of the ornamentation of its pillars and projecting balconies. It is in a small neighboring garden that has the tomb of the queen, covered with a canvas of variegated colors, and sheltered under a chhatri. Rani Roopmati Masjid, with its exquisite details and the large complex of Shah Alam, is a living tribute to the reign of Muhmad Shah Beghara of the 15th century. The Queen's mosque in Mirzapur, built between 1430 and 1440, is more representative of the mosque construction model in the 15th century in Ahmedabad.
