Day 4
Ayodhya – Prayagraj (200 kms / 4 hrs)
After enjoying early breakfast in Ayodhya hotel, drive towards Prayagraj, the city called Tirthraj and situated on the banks of Ganga, Yamuna and Triveni Sangam. Akbar had changed the city’s name as Allahabad but now the city has again adopted its ancient name. Prayagraj finds profuse mentions in religious scriptures of the Hindus. Lord Brahma had carried out ‘Yajna’ & ‘Havan’ here. Ram, Sita and Laxman had visited Bharadwaj Ashram, located in Prayagraj. Sita worshipped Akshay Vat, presently located within the ramparts of Allahabad Fort. This is the place where annual Magh Mela and twelve yearly Kumbh Mela take place since time immemorial.
On arrival at Prayagraj, check in at the hotel. Having relaxed a bit, you will be taken to Sangam, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati. One can have holy dip, offer prayers, perform religious rituals and get tonsured here. Thereafter, visit Bade Hanuman Ji Temple and do worship.
Hereinafter, proceed on to visit Anand Bhavan, ancestral house of Jawahar Lal Nehru that has been converted into a museum. Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was born. Nearby is located Bharadwaj Ashram and one can visit Bharadwajeshwar Shilingam too. Overnight stay is scheduled in Prayagraj hotel.
