Har Ki Pauri is the one of the most spiritual ghats in Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand in India. It’s in the vicinity of this ghat all of the religious tasks take place. The word Hari means Lord/God and Dwar means Gateway. Thus, together, it means the gateway to the Lord. According to Hindu mythology, it's one of the four places where drops of elixir (nectar) or Amrita unintentionally spilled over from the pitcher or Kumbha. These four places - Haridwar, Allahabad, Nasik, and Ujjain- emerged as places where Kumbh Mela takes place every 12 years in succession. Countless devotees and visitors congregate from all around the world to celebrate this celestial event and indulge in ritualistic bathing on the banks of the river Ganges.

Every day, thousands of visitors take holy dip into Ganga at Har Ki Pauri and, in the evening; priests indulge in Ganga Arti ceremony. This is an excellent soul-touching spectacle. Countless people gather on each bank of river Ganga to sing its praises. The priest wave massive fire bowls in ritualistic fashion, the bells in the temples begin ringing and the chants flowing out of lips fill the air. The golden colors of floral diyas reflected in the River Ganga offer the most captivating sights. Hari Ki Pauri is the most religious and well-appreciated place in Haridwar and it is recommended to visit at least once while on Haridwar tour.
