In 1905, Abanindranath Tagore had portrayed Bharat Mata as a four armed Hindu Goddess who wears a saffron coloured robe, and holds a book, a mala (garland), a white cloth, and sheaves of rice. It is said that the image of Bharat Mata was created to encourage the feeling of nationalism amongst the freedom fighters. This temple was inaugurated to show respect and honour to all the people who took part in India’s Independence struggle along with the statues of some Hindu gods. The main aim of this temple is to show the unity and oneness in India even through its diversity. Bharat Mata stands for unity, integrity, oneness, and similarity. It, therefore, sends message that there should be no barrier of caste, creed, sex, and religion amongst the Indians. The aim here is to spread nationalism and respect to the freedom fighters and the martyrs of the country.
