The Indian War Memorial Museum was established in 1919 in Delhi. The earlier Naubat Khana of Red Fort has now been converted into the Indian War Memorial Museum where weapons, uniforms and badges from ancient times are displayed. It is a nice collection of weapons used by the Mughal and the British. It clearly demarcates the technological difference and gap between the two sides. The museum is intended for housing war trophies, and there is a collection of arms and ammunition, photographs, etc. as were used in the First World War 1914-18. The war trophies are from diilerent fronts, especially from Mesopotamia, East Africa and the North West Frontier. There are also war pictures, photographs, publications, stamps, coins and currency notes, ammunition, regimental badges, etc. There are labels provided for each one of the trophies exhibited and the curator sometimes shows visitors round the museum. Members from several educational institutions visit the museum from India and abroad. The Indian War Memorial Museum is situated within the archaeological area of Red Fort, Delhi and the fee for admission to this area is nil. If a visitor pays entry fee for Red Fort, he / she can enter the museum too. The Indian War Memorial Museum is suitably located and a large number of people visit per day. The number of visitors increases on special occasions like Flag Hoisting Day, Baisakhi, Dussehra etc. The Museum building is suitable and adequate for the exhibits here. The collections in the Indian War Memorial Museum are presented by the Ministry of Defence
