In a different sphere, 26th January 1950 is one of the most important days in Indian history. The constitution of India came into force on this
day and country became a republic, realizing the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and the numerous freedom fighters who fought for independence. Republic Day is celebrated
each year with solemn pomp and pageantry, culminating with a spectacular military procession known as the Beating of the Retreat and a cultural extravaganza, in
which every state performs its traditional music and dance.
