Priyadarshini Point was earlier known as Forsyth Point. It was Captain Forsyth of British army who first reached at this point and presented a great detail of the same. He was a forest scientist as well. In recorded history, in 1857, Captain Forsyth viewed the enchanting beauty of Panchmarhi from this point and hence named after him. In 1964 Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi visited this point and it was renamed after her.
