The history of Kota dates back to the 12th century AD when the leader of Hada, Rao Deva, conquered the territory and founded Bundi and Hadoti. Later, at the beginning of the 17th century AD, during the reign of Mughal ruler Jahangir, the leader of Bundi - Rao Ratan Singh, gave the smallest principality of Kota to his son, Madho Singh and since then it became an important center for Rajputs’ power and culture. Among the prominent tourist attractions of Kota are City Palace of Kota, Kota Fort, Brij Raj Bhawan Palace, Jag Mandir Island Palace, royal cenotaphs etc.
