Visiting Alleppey in Winter Season (October to February): Winter season is the best time to visit Alleppey. During October and November when the southwest monsoon retreats, rainfall is mostly from thunder showers. October shows secondary maximum in rainfall. Comparatively very little rainfall is recorded during the period December to February, February being the month with the least rainfall. With the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon, day temperatures increase slightly but quite pleasant. During October and major part of November southwest monsoon retreats giving place to the northeast monsoon, which lasts till the end of February, although the rains associated with the northeast monsoon ceases by December.
Visiting Alleppey in Summer Season (March to May): The period from March to the end of May is the hot season. It is a season of gradual increase in temperature. The weather gets oppressive in this season due to the higher temperatures and the dampness of the air. However, in coastal areas sea breezes give some relief from the heat. Afternoon thunder showers which are frequent during March to May also bring welcome relief. The summer climate is definitely conducive to European or American tourists but suites well to domestic tourists due to subdued accommodation and travel costs.
Visiting Alleppey in Monsoon Season (June to September): With the onset of the southwest monsoon by about the end of May temperatures decrease and throughout the monsoon season weather is pleasant. After July the rainfall gradually decreases till the end of September. Many tourists opt for monsoon season to visit Alleppey amidst a bit favorable climate conditions with accommodation and travel cost at its lowest ebb.
