originated in Persia (Iran) and brought to India by Mughal rulers. Lucknow and Agra are prime centers of Zardozi work. The embroidery
is also known as ‘dabka’ and can be used over different fabrics. Bhadohi carpets, popular all across the globe, are named after the
place, Bhadohi. It is a city of Uttar Pradesh where carpets are hand-woven. These carpets are known internationally for their fine
works. Khurja pottery comes from Bulandshahar of Uttar Pradesh. It is a ceramic handicraft. Different kinds of household and decorative
items are designed in Khurja which is known as Khurja pottery.Chikankari is a kind of embroidery which comes from Lucknow, capital city of Uttar Pradesh.
It is believed to be introduced by Noor Jahan, wife of Mughal ruler Jahangir. The embroidery is done by using 36 different types of stitches
combined with pearls, mirrors etc. It can be used over different fabrics. It is one of the most famous embroidery all over India and outside
the country too. For the maintenance, it doesn’t demand any extra effort. The washing pattern of the embroidery can be followed according to
the fabric on which it is drawn. Bamboo & Cane craft comes mainly from the North East states of India. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram,
Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim are prominent in this field. The craft from different states has a variety of designs and colors.
The items which are made of bamboo are like trays, furniture, mats, stools, chairs, hand fans, baskets, hand bags, jewelries etc. The
items made of bamboo have different varieties of designs like a basket can be of conical or square shape. The bamboo hat is one of the
most famous articles made of bamboo. Kantha stitch, a kind of embroidery, comes from West Bengal. There are seven types of Kantha stitches.
No special maintenance is needed to keep the quality of stitch intact. Initially, it was used on cotton fabric only, but now used over other fabrics too.
