The sea-kissed Visakhapatnam is 638 km from Hyderabad - via Rajahmundry, Kovvur, Vijayawada and Suryapet. It is adjacent to Waltair and notable for its beautiful landscape and equable climate. This excellent town is the largest seaport on the eastern coast.

Visakhapatnam is often called the Ruhr of Andhra Pradesh - many major factories and refineries are situated here! The city has one of the country's major ship-building yards and a naval base.

The Lawson's Bay near Waltair is a swimmers' paradise. For a magnificent view of the sea there stands the Dolphin's Nose lighthouse.
