800 metres above sea-level, Mandi is by the river Seas in the Shivalik hills--- and has a warm climate. Many of the temples here are in ruins. From the temple of the Tarana Devi on the Tarana Hill, carved out of rock, one can enjoy a commanding view of the surrounding area. The Rewalsar Lake is thirty kilometers south of Mandi with its beautiful 'floating islet’. Buddhists, Hindus, and Sikhs gather here for worshipping their deities.
