Believed to be the fief of Lakshman given by his brother Lord Rama, the area was occupied by Pir Muhammad Shah. Situated to the north of the Imambara complex, it is now known as Lakshman Tila and famous for the Alamgiri or Aurangzeb Mosque built by Sultan Ali, Governor of Avadh during the reign of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. A triple domed structure with slender minarets, at corners, this mosque is also known as Tile Wali Masjid and has outstanding symmetry and sobriety of decoration.
