Dungarpur

‘Dungar’ means a hill or mountain and ‘pur’ means a city, so Dungarpur means a hill town. A variety of shrubs and trees that neither requires deep soil nor humidity also grows in this area. To the north and east, the terrain is rugged and environment wild but towards the southwest confine, the hard characteristics of the landscape become gradually softer. The eastern part of the region slopes down towards the basin of the Mahi River and consists of plain cultivated land area. Two rivers Mahi and Som, flow through this region.
