‘Dungar’ means a hill or mountain and ‘pur’ means a city, so Dungarpur means a hill town. A variety of shrubs and trees that neither requires deep soil nor humidity also grows in this area. To the north and east, the terrain is rugged and environment wild but towards the southwest confine, the hard characteristics of the landscape become gradually softer. Dungarpur is a historical city that is located in the southern part of Rajasthan. The city was established in 1197 AD by Samant Singh, the eldest son of the Mewar ruler, Karan Singh. He was the child of Bappa Rawal, the 8th ruler of the Guhilot Empire and the creator of the Mewar kingdom. This old town has many important and historic places to visit.
