Pokhran is a small town, located in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. This desert town is popular for Ramdevara temple and a historic fort of the Royal family. Pokaran is an important army center of India. The major part of Pokharan is in possession of the Indian army. As it is located in the remote area of the country, it is least impacted of modern culture. Traditions, costumes, architecture and way of life are always the same as it was hundreds of years ago.

Things to do in Pokharan

Visit one of the most popular temples of Rajasthan, Ramdevara. Millions of people visit Ramdevara Temple every year from all parts of the country. The temple is dedicated to God Ramdevji and it is believed that if the temple is visite while walking from one’s native place, every wish is fulfilled. In the month of Bhadra (according to the Hindu calendar), a great fair is organized in Pokhran.

Pokhran is located in the Thar Desert where camels were the principal means of transportation. During the trip, a safari on the back of the camel can be arranged to explore the countryside around the village.

When to visit Pokhran?

The summers in Pokhran are extremely hot with the maximum temperature extending up to 50 degrees centigrade. It is almost impossible to do any activity during the day as the hot wind is unbearable. The best time to visit Pokaran is during the winters when the weather is very pleasant. You can plan your trip between the months of October and March.
