Karauli is a small town located about 150 km from Jaipur to Rajasthan. It is famous for the Kaila Devi fair organized here every year. The city was founded in 1348 years of our era. And it is believed that the ruling family of Karauli is the descendants of Lord Krishna. They are considered responsible for the Yaduvanshi Rajput. Their family history is rich with stories of courage and glory. Karauli was strongly fortified by its leaders. The city is surrounded by a wall of red sandstone reinforced by bastions with several palaces. The peripheral wall, now destroyed at several palaces, has six gates and eleven posts. Raja Gopal Das of Karauli (1533-1569) had defeated Daud Khan. To acknowledge his valorous acts, the Mogul Emperor, Akbar, granted him the reward of Ranjit Nagarah which is still with the royal family of Karauli.
