The presiding deities of the temple are Lord Vishnu, the protector god, and Goddess Laxmi, consort of God Vishnu and deity of prosperity. Both the deities are worshipped here in a form of idol. The statues of Lord Vishnu & Goddess Laxmi are are carved out of a single piece of marble. There are several shrines of other Hindu gods and goddesses in this temple along with the statues of philosophers liker Buddha, Confucious, Zarathustra, Socrates et al. All of these statues are delicately carved and very well maintained and taken care of till date.
Birla Temple of Jaipur is built of white marble which is the unique feature of its construction. Even the stairs of the temple are built of white marbles. The modern architecture of this temple differentiates it from the yester year temples. An interesting fact is that the marbles of Birla Temple also illuminate in the dark, imparting an enchanting sight during night. The walls of the temples have unique Hindu symbols on them along with the citation from the holy Hindu books like the Gita and, Ramcharitmanas. The temple has three large spires (shikhar) indicating the three approaches of the Hinduism to the Almighty / God. Another theory behind construction of three spires (shikhar) states that these spires are symbolic of three religions that originated from India. Being part of the architecture of a single temple denotes intrinsic unity and common origin of Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism. The outer side of the temple is decorated with tainted glass windows. These describe the mythological stories of the deities. Also, the external walls of the temple have a large number of sculptures representing numerous Hindu mythological characters. The entire temple is surrounded with green lawns that make everything more soothing.
The Birla Temple of Jaipur is open on all days from 6 AM to 12 PM and then from 3 PM to 9 PM. Normally, entry into a temple is free but, in this context, Birla Temple is an exception and charges entrance fee. The entire time to explore the temple can be somewhere from 30 to 45 minutes. There is a large museum inside the Birla Temple that belongs to the temple and holds its treasures. Ancient artefacts and priceless objects can be found in the collection of the museum. Grand religious rituals, called ‘aarti’ & ‘pujan’, are performed at the time of opening and closing of the temple. Birla Temple is located at the foothills of the Moti Dungri hills. The best time to visit Jaipur and Birla Temple is winter season. The winter spans over from October to March. Visiting Birla Temple during religious festivals of the Hindus is a treat to the eyes. Being in the temple on the occasion of Janmashtami is a lifetime experience as one happens to see and partake in lot of rituals performed during this festival. There are no guides to show the temple around but the priests are helpful enough to let the tourists explore the venue. There are several small shops outside Birla Temple where one can indulge in shopping of souvenirs, small statues of the deities, and more.
