Being a Hindu Tirtha and an ancient cultural destination, the tourists and pilgrims keep visiting Gaya round the year but weather conditions and religious ceremonies affect the number of visiting travelers. Highest surge in number of pilgrims in each year is observed during Pitrapaksha (September / October).
Visiting Gaya during Winter Season (October - March) - The weather to visit Gaya is winter season when climate is most conducive for sightseeing. The months of December and January are particularly very cold. The temperature ranges between from 9° Celcius to 26° Celcius. Many a times, temperature in the night drops to the single digit and the visitors are suggested to carry woolen clothes.
Visiting Gaya during Summer Season (April - June) – The summer season commences from April and lasts till June. The climate during these months is marked by heat waves, locally called ‘loo’. The temperature peaks up to 45° Celcius. The temperature during these months gets unbearable and untoward for sightseeing.
Visiting Gaya during Monsoon Season (July - September) – Gaya observes heavy rainfall in the months of July & August. Gaya has a fairly wet monsoon and the season lasts till September. Weather remains pleasant and the city receives around 100 cm of rainfall. Humidity remains very high.
