Palace on Wheels is comprised of 14 air-conditioned luxury coaches (saloons). There are four rooms / cabins in each saloon. Every saloon, representing princely states of Rajasthan, has been named thus -- Alwar (the Shekhawati region- gateway to Rajasthan), Bharatpur (now renowned for Keoladeo Ghana bird sanctuary- an ornithologist's paradise), Bikaner (the place known for desert, dessert and legendary lovers Dhola & Maru), Bundi (known for valour of Hada Rajputs), Dholpur (known for palaces built with sandstones and latticed balcony railings), Dungargarh (the Hill Town of Bhil tribesmen), Jaisalmer (the terrain known for Thar desert, camel safaris, intricately carved havelis and Sonar Qila), Jaipur (the first planned city of medieval India, presently known as the Pink City), Jhalawar (a land of immense natural beauty and valiant Jhala Rajputs), Jodhpur (the Blue City of Rajasthan-the land of ruling Rathore clan and Mehrangarh Fort), Kishangarh (known for Bani Thani paintings of Kishangarh school of arts), Kota (one of the most prosperous former Rajput states), Sirohi (famous for gold fort) and Udaipur (the capital of Sisodia Rajputs and famous for Lake Pichola, City Palace, Lake Palace etc.). Each saloon is painted depicting the representative feature of those states. The saloons are well appointed with amenities such as bathtub and shower, connected toilets, 24 hour hot and cold running water, satellite phone, intercom, music channel, carpet, etc. Each cabin is nicely decorated in a royal style. There is a Khidmatgar (attendant) at your service round the clock to take care of all your needs.To spoil your taste buds the train offers two restaurants called "The Maharaja" and "The Maharani". Here you can gorge on a variety of Rajasthan, Indian, Continental, Thai, Italian and Chinese dishes. There is a bar too where you can taste several Indian and international brands of alcohol. Mall is also available on board. Your luggage is brought and taken to your personal compartments without your worrying about it. Each visitor is provided with an arrival kit including stationery, promotional material, cards etc. Any extra can be requested from the attendant, always accessible to your service. For a handicapped person, there is special provision of wheelchairs, crèches, and a special attendant for physical assistance.

Day 1

Wednesday - Tour begins at 09.30 hrs in New Delhi

Rajasthan tour in luxury train Palace on Wheels commences as you join the group for a day tour of Delhi. The Palace on Wheels' staff greets you in traditional Indian way- garlanding, 'teeka' and turban with a glass of chilled beer. The Delhi tour comprises sightseeing of India Gate, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb and more. Delhi is definitely the richest capital of the world in terms of cultural heritage and monuments. Delhi was known as Indraprastha during Mahabharata time. Delhi has been built and ravaged several times. The historical evidences indicate the existence of Delhi even thousands of years before Christ. The centuries' old rituals, traditions and cultural heritage can be seen and felt even today.

After visiting India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House), Sansad Bhavan (Parliament), Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Lotus Temple etc, return to Safdarjung railway station to board Palace on Wheels. After ceremonial welcome on Palace on Wheels, you will be introduced with fellow co-passangers. Now start Rajasthan tour in luxurious ambience. Day 2

Thursday – Jaipur Arrival 02.00 hrs – Depart Jaipur 19.30 hrs

The first destination of Palace on Wheels is Jaipur. Jaipur, known as Pink City of Rajasthan, is presently the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur was built and founded by Jai Singh II of Kachwaha Rajput clan in 1727 AD. Jaipur, the first planned city of medieval India, was laid out in nine grid pattern, believed to be auspicious and lucky in the ancient Indian books of Vastushastra (treatise on architecture). Jaipur and its monuments hold a very important place in Indian Tourism and Rajasthan Tourism. The monuments of Jaipur are grand in scale, finely sculptured and religiously preserved. Hence, glorious past comes alive on watching the monuments of Jaipur.

The Jaipur sightseeing tour will comprise of visiting Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Albert Hall. The lunch venue will be the Amber Fort. In the late afternoon, you will be taken to bustling market of Jaipur. Jaipur is famous for large number of handicraft goods, marble products, hand-woven rugs & carpets, intricately carved and shaped jewellery etc.

Later in the evening, return to the Palace on Wheels train. Dinner will be served onboard. Depart for next destination of Rajasthan.

Day 3

Friday - Arrival 05.30 hrs (Sawai Madhopur) & 16.00 hrs (Chittorgarh) - Sawai Madhopur

District Sawai Madhopur is, now-a-days, synonymous with Ranthambhore National Park. The Palace on Wheels will stop at Sawai Madhopur railway station and, from thereon, you will be taken to Royal Bengal Tiger reserve of Ranthambhore Wildlife Sanctuary to have a jungle jeep safari (game drive) to spot the 'big cat'. Ranthambhore National Park is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts who crave for observing & photo graphing tiger in its natural ambience. Other than tiger, Ranthambhore National Park has sizeable population of hyena, ratel, jackal, fox, leopard etc.

Ranthambhore is a historical place as well. Ranthambhore Fort and Jhumar Baori (hunting lodge of Jaipur king Sawai Madho Singh) are testimony to tumultuous and rich past. A visit to Jhoomar Baori and Jogi Mahal (erstwhile forest guest house) will make your Rajasthan tour special. From Jogi Mahal, you can observe excellent scenic beauty of Padam Talab.

Return to Palace on Wheels after Ranthambhore tour and move on for Chittaurgarh. Chittaurgarh has a special place, probably most important, in the history of Rajasthan. The history of the fort of Chittaurgarh dates back to Mauryan period. Chittaurgarh is symbolic of supreme sacrifices for esteem of clan, state and self. Images of love, valour, scars of battles lost and won, thrice-besieged; Chittaurgarh Fort is all this and more. As Palace on Wheels arrives at Chittaurgarh, you will be taken to visit Chittaurgarh Fort, probably the largest fort of India. Day 4

Saturday – Udaipur Arrival 08.00 hrs - Departure 15.30 hrs from Udaipur

After Chittaurgarh, Udaipur is the next stop-over of Palace on Wheels. Udaipur was the capital of Mewar kingdom of Sisodia Rajputs. Udaipur is known as 'city of lakes', 'Venice of East' and 'city of rising sun'. Udaipur is a preferred place of honeymooners. After breakfast, move on for sightseeing tour of Udaipur. Viewing the two most beaut`iful sites of Udaipur- the white marble palaces-the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichhola- is a treat to eyes and soul. And that too while having a boat ride in Lake Pichola. After lunch, a visit to City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Maharana Pratap Memorial and museum will be an exhilarating experience. Later on visit the crystal gallery which is a balcony of Fateh Prakash Banquet hall having a museum of crystal glass furniture, crockery, chandeliers of olden time.

Later in the evening, return to Palace on Wheels to embark on the journey to Jaisalmer, an exotic tourist destination of Rajasthan tour.

Day 5

Sunday – Jaisalmer Arrival 09.15 hrs - Departure 23.45 hrs from Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer, founded by Rao Jaisal, lies in the very heart of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is world over known for its golden sand dunes, grand chhatris (cenotaphs), Sonar Qila (Golden Fort) and painstakingly latticed havelis with their grand facades. Among the renowned and noteworthy havelis are Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli. The Sonar Qila (Golden Fort) is made of yellow sand stones. Another striking aspect of the famous Sonar Qila (Golden Fort) of Jaisalmer is that it encompasses city within it. Visit unique and exotic Jaisalmer on Rajasthan tour with Palace on Wheels. Monday – Jodhpur Arrival 07.00 hrs.

Founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, Jodhpur is a very historical destination. World over, it is famous for mammoth and magnificent Mehrangarh Fort and Ummed Bhawan, the palace of Jodhpur rulers. Magnificence of Mehrangarh Fort is probably un-matched in India. Mehrangarh Fort houses several grand palaces like Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana which are impressive examples of architectural excellence. The pride of Jodhpur, the Mehrangarh Fort, is well maintained fort. Along with that watch out Jaswant Thada which, as opined by several historians, had influenced Shah Jahan and few elements of Taj Mahal are inspired by this cenotaph, built in white marble. Day 7

Tuesday – Bharatpur Arrival 05.00hrs - Departure 08.45 hrs from Bharatpur

After Jodhpur travel, the next tourist destination of Rajasthan is Bharatpur, founded by Jat king Suraj Mal. Bharatpur is not only renowned for its historical places but also better known for Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a bird sanctuary. Bharatpur bird sanctuary is the nesting place of thousands of Egrets, Siberian Cranes, migratory Water Fowl and other species of birds. The Bharatpur bird sanctuary was declared as a National Park in 1983. Spread in 29 square km, Keoladeo Ghana National Park attracts thousands of migratory birds due to shallow, fresh water marsh.

The breakfast will take place in the Bharatpur bird sanctuary. Visit the pleasant scenic beauty of the park and return to Palace on Wheels.

Day 7

Tuesday – Agra Arrival 10.30 hrs - Departure 23.00 hrs from Agra

From Bharatpur, the luxury train Palace on Wheels will be moving towards Fatehpur Sikri which is known for its elegant red sandstone Mughal palatial complex. Fatehpur Sikri was founded by Mughal king Akbar as the new capital of Mughal Empire. The mosque within the complex was dedicated to Sheikh Salim Chisti, a Muslim Sufi Saint. There are many exquisite palaces like Panch Mahal, Jodhabai Palace etc. After visiting Fatehpur Sikri, again move for Agra, the erstwhile Mughal capital. Agra is blessed with two UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE sites- Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Taj Mahal, one of the world's seven wonders, is said to be a love story engraved on marble. The breathtaking beauty of Taj Mahal, a pristine monument of undying love, keeps attracting tourist from all parts of the world to get mesmerized by having a look the epitome of love- the Taj Mahal. Visit other famous monuments of Agra as well. Also, enjoy sound & light show at Agra Fort in the evening.

Wednesday – New Delhi Arrival 06:00 hrs

After dinner on board and a good night's sleep, arrive at Safdarjung Train Station, New Delhi at 6.00 hrs the next morning and let the pleasant memories of the past week linger on your mind for a long, long time.
