Madhya Pradesh Tour Packages

Madhya Pradesh tour packages showcase the unique synthesis of the ancient and the modern that exists in this central province of India. From the ancient Buddhist caves of Bagh near Indore, one passes through the modern cities – with beautiful landscape, pleasant weather and well-known history. The picturesque city of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is situated on the banks of a large lake. The Tajul mosque here is one of the largest in India. The great Sanchi Stupa built by Emperor Ashok in honor of Lord Buddha, is surrounded by four balustrades and four regal portals called ‘toranas’ that are profusely decorated with bas-reliefs of the Buddha's life. 47 km from Sanchi is the 16th century Raisen Fort. To the west of Bhopal is Indore which is the fourth city of India in textile importance and which is famous for its refined temples. Further west is Mandu (former Afghan capital) called "the city of joy". Inside the city rises the formidable fort of six doors, the Champa Baoli or old well whose water was highly appreciated for its fragrance; the Jama Masjid, one of the most majestic buildings; the Palace of Baz Bahadur, the last sultan of Mandu whose love for a beautiful singer is immortalized in the folklore of Malwa. The Jahaz Mahal or Boat Palace, the Hindola Mahal or Palace and the Rupmati Palace are examples of excellent architecture. Jehangir once said: "During the monsoon, Mandu is a paradise."

Madhya Pradesh tours can take you several historical and religiously important places. Near Mandu, there are some lovely places, such as Ujjain, a religious center that Hindus should visit once in a lifetime, Maheswar, a place of unbearable beauty and Onkareshwar, seat of a sacred temple. Khajuraho is the place where the energetic Chandelas of the Rajput warrior clan lived, loved, fought and triumphed. Once reached the top of their power, they built temples to their gods with all the fervor of a virile race. The temples are reflection of the finest architecture and sublime sculptures. Panna Nature Reserve is located near Khajuraho. It is also near Orchha where you can visit its beautiful temples. In the north of Madhya Pradesh lies the wonderful city of Gwalior which prides itself on having an impressive fort with two temples and a museum. Shivpuri is another nature reserve near Gwalior. Exactly in the center of India is Jabalpur, a city that has marble quarries at the outskirts. Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Khajuraho and Jabalpur have airports with flights to Mumbai and Delhi.
