Udaipur, perhaps the most romantic city in India, was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh. He built this city on the banks of Lake Pichola on the top of a small hill. In previous days, Udaipur was the capital of the Mewar Rajput kingdom, ruled by the Sisodia clan with the support of the Jhala clan.
