Mewar Festival is celebrated to welcome the advent of spring. It coincides with the festival of Gangaur and has a unique charm. The Gangaur festival is very significant for the women of Rajasthan. It is a time for them to dress in their best clothes and participate in the festival. A procession of women dressed in many colors bearing the images of the goddess Gauri makes her way to Lake Pichola. The Royal Boat procession also known as Gangaur Boat on the waters of Lake Pichola is an important event of the Mewar Festival in Udaipur. The procession ends at Gangaur Ghat at Lake Pichhola. Here, the images are transferred to special boats accompanied by traditional songs and dances.
