Amritsar Weekend Tour

  2 Days / 1 Nights

   Delhi – Amritsar

2 Days Amritsar Tour from New Delhi is a popular tour and mostly opted by tourists as an extension to Golden Triangle India. The tour commences from and ends in New Delhi. To & fro journey between Delhi & Amritsar is carried out by premium Shatabdi Express train. Amritsar, literally meaning ‘Pond of Nectar’, derives its name from the sacred lake around the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple. The holiest city of the Sikh, Amritsar is the second most populous city in Punjab, located merely24 kms from Pakistan border. Founded by 4th Sikh Guru Ram Das Ji, Amritsar is home to several historical, religious and cultural tourist attractions. The central and very interesting old town is also called "city of the walls". The narrow and winding streets of the 17th and 18th centuries give it a special flair. The city administration even uses part of its budget to protect the historical and religious heritage and to preserve the religious monuments in the city. Amritsar is home to the "Harimandir Sahib", also known as the "Golden Temple", the spiritual and cultural center of the Sikh religion. This important Sikh temple attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal in Agra and is the number one destination for non-resident Indians. Durgiana Temple is another religious tourist attraction. Jalliawala Bagh, a war memorial, commemorates the martyrdom of the innocent Sikh & Hindu people. Now-a-days, Wagha Border’s ‘Beating The Retreat’ has emerged as a major tourist attraction during Amritsar trip.
